[text with marakesh.1bk] In Clarinist I tackled the problem of the smooth pitchglide at the beginning of Rhapsody in Blue. Continuous slider 1 controls the crossfade speed. With the slider almost all the way up, you can play this. Then pull it back for the rest of the theme. Of course you can assign a footpedal to change the crossfade speed. I think this effect sounds more natural than portamento. The timbre of Clarinist makes it suitable for classical music as well as jazz. Sopranist is the result of cross-pollination between the Redman-patch and Manny's Sopranon. It's very responsive and the timbre is just about right. JanSoprano is based on the sarangi-element and does more or less the same things as WK-soprano, but with a sound that's more soprano sax-like. Marakesh is based on the bent horn element. Enormous amount of vibrato make this patch spring to life. For world music-fans? Tenor2 is based on Manny's turbosax and sax:tenor2 by Bill Busch. I programmed it whilst listening to Brecker's 'Tales from the Hudson', so some of that may have rubbed of. Till next time: Wietze Krikke
